I would remove this file if it is no longer necessary and simply 'touch' a new one with the same parms & perms.

touch /var/adm/wtmp

Quick response - look at the man page for wtmp.

I had the same issue recently on 10.20.

File utmp contains a record of all users logged onto the system. File
