I've got a strange problem with a webserver box (suse linux 7.2). My MTA is sendmail, and when I tried manually send a mail.

Sendmail -v "user@something" < /etc/hosts

The Server...

aehm just one question.

is there a simple command to watch all online users, and their connection (ftp,ssh, etc...) also remote!

Or do you know a good tool for it.

The dns is set up with the domain for my server but now I go this message by testing sendmail... does anyone know why sendmail defferes the message?

I set up the dns server, in a few hours should be all up! But why do I need this just for using smtp? For pop3 is clear! To resovl the server itself can be harcoded in host, isn't it?

I fixed the unqualified hostname. snemdial is strict. just add in the hosts file the domain name at the host.
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx venus logost youdomain.ch

but I've still got the

After a few minutes I get one

I tested with my email address... at a diffrent domain, no localhost/domain

I fogot it in my previous posting. Anyway, I get no informations on this command. just a blinking cursor - no more. The server cuodl receive mails but just localhost domain mails working diffrent...

I think it's better when you'll install a precompiled version of samba for soalris/intel 8.
The file calls

samba-2.2.2-sol8-intel-local.gz.

You can get it from every solaris resouce site,...

yes you're right. The goal of this project is to setup an sloaris box as mailsserver with sendmail. Probably there's easier way with some other tools but that's not the questions and sense of this...

It's a bit an old version of samba 2.0.7. The latest version is 2.2.2 and you cuold get it from www.samba.org as source code/tarball or from sunfreeware as precompiled version for intel/sparc...

sorry i used gcc 3.0.1 not 2.9.5. By reinstall the error was fixed. So ist a bug in 3.0.1
