"pkginfo" is a pretty nice command for solaris. pkginfo -l "package" will give you additional details.

Usually if you want to run or refer to something in your current directory, you can simply address it with a "./" (dot slash)...to execute file in you directory, make sure it is execute permissions...

i have never seen that error message before. No idea why it is happening. Try echo | format and see if that works. If it does, then there may be some other issue specific to running it with top on...

when you are doing backups, you need to back up the partitions. There isnt a way as far as i know to just wack the whole system with a backup. You usually have to back up each individual file...

My transmit rates are waaay faster using scp over sftp....anyone know why scp is faster than sftp? I am using solaris 8 for my unix systems.
