I've created an alias in my .bashrc which works fine. But it does not work when I go into the "script" command.

Does anyone out there know who I can make aliases work when I go into...

cut -f2 -d" " file1 > file2

This will put just that column into file2.

I'm sure there are other solutions out there as well, but I hope this helps.

Why are you using -c2-; i.e., why doesn't -c1- work for the first character?
