Hi,
Sounds like you can help me - I have a mass spectrometer at work which runs on top of a xenix system, and it keeps on telling me I have no space on my dev 1/40... Am a bit of a unix newbie but have checked around, and my /dev/root/ partition turns out to be 100% full. Can I delete everything in the /tmp directory reasonably safely, or might there be stuff in the subdirectories which is necessary for nonsmooth running of system? The /tmp/perms and /tmp/xnx427 directories sound a bit intimidating...
Also read to try to find any core dumps and delete them, but cant get my find statement working, and everytime I try to read man find entry the help file gets displaced off the screen by hd: no space on dev 1/40 messages grrrr.
Whereelse can I look for stuff in my root I dont need? The system is like, 14 years old and just recently given to us as gift, so could be all sorts of rubbish on there for all I know...
Any help would be really great, thanks, Malcolm
