Imho. A packet sniffer will not find this fault.

What items have you checked, and what was the result of each check?

Do you have any modern high-speed network components between these two computers? If so, what are they?

For example: If you have a Cisco gigabit router configured for "jumbo packets" it will give these symptoms - chronic slow performance and hangs.

thanks Methyl for all your replies, it really works for me to find the root casue of the problem.

There is a CISCO router install on each server (configured to work on specific ip) and all the routers connected through a firewall. The person who configured the routers and firewall mistakenly not open the prot 20 on one router. as he realize that it his fault due to whcih i am facing the problem he hide it and told me that the router is mal functioning any ways....some how i configure that he is lying and reconfigure the router from other person.

and the problem is solved.

Thanks again.

may be a stuipid question BUT, are there different license files for each SCO box? If there are 2 sco boxes on the same nmetwork with the same OS license key one of them will disaable its network capabilities. I've seen where the network "half" works with this scenario
