Change Disk controller in SCO 6.0.0

So today I tried to upgrade a customer from a Proliant with an HPSAS controller to an Intel server with a MEGASAS controller.
First, I downloaded the megasas driver from SCO and installed it on the old system.
Then I created a new Microlite Edge emergency boot cd with the new driver on it.
I then backed up the old root file system to dvd, and after booting the new system with the newly created Recoveredge cd, created new file systems and restored from the dvd.
All went well until I tried to boot the new system from the disk.
It failed because it could not find the HPSAS disk controller.
So my question is: did I forget to do something on the old system after installing the new driver and before doing the backup, or should I have done something on the new system after the restore, and before rebooting from the new disk.

Okay you down loaded and placed the new driver on the old OS, but nowhere have you said that you configured the OS to boot from the Megasas card. The OS has to be configured to use the Megasas BTLD.

and how is that done, to my knowledge the OS discovers hardware by itself.
