Unregistered version RHEL...

Hi everyone,

I am working a contract and the customer has not registered there RHEL 5 servers. They have a cluster of servers and it would seem that they all stop logging in messages @ appox 15:50 and then start logging again at 4:04 am. Is this a normal thing for non-registered?

No. All non-registered means is that you won't get updates. And btw, updates are *very* important on an RHEL box. If they want RHEL without paying, tell them to consider CentOS instead.

Ya, agreed.... Why run RHEL without registration and updates? At that point, you're better off with CentOS.

No, this is not normal behavior. Something else is causing this to happen. It is very unusual for no logging to occur to /var/log/messages during any time period.
