Object not found error for mediawiki

Hi All,

I am new to linux and trying to install mediawiki on linux server. I have installed xampp and mediawiki on window which works absolutely fine. The redhat version i am using seems pretty old 5.1. Here is what I did so far on redhat to install mediawiki
1. installed xampp for linux1.8.1 and it works fineSmilie. lampp is under /opt
2. downloaded and extracted mediawiki(latest version) to /var/www/html

When I browse IP/mediawiki (i am not allowed to post entire url) to configure and setup mediawiki i get object not found errorSmilie. My guess is that apache(xampp) and mediawiki are not communicating. I am not able to understand what I am missing to doSmilie. Could anyone please point me in the right direction.

Did a lil bit of digging around and tried following things suggested in various forum/people to get this to work
1. tried moving mediawiki folder to /var/www (instead of keeping it in html)
2. pointed the documentroot from /htdocs to /var/www in httpd.conf file

Any pointer on how to set this straight is very much appreciatedSmilie. Spent last 5-6hrs on this Smilie

Please let me know if you need any more details. Thanks for you time.
