Red Hat

I am getting ready to install RHEL6 server. I have to create these partitions:

/ 10GB
SWAP 3GB
/opt/kent 10GB
/opt/kent/logs
/backup 20 GB

Will Gparted do this? or whats the easiest way? or even a tutorial?I am so new to this

There's many partitioning tools in linux, of which fdisk, sfdisk, cfdisk, parted are only a short list, excluding their GUI frontends like gparted.
There's no easiest way, you have to find your way through. Normally Red Hat offer a partitioning step during install.

I have to agree with RudiC on this...it is a VERY short list. (https://www.google.com/search?q=linu...iw=992&bih=839) I find the easiest way is via the GUI, but all people are entitled to their opinions. When I installed Fedora, Anaconda (the graphical installer for RedHat) has a built in partitioner. Gparted can do that, but I find it hard to use because there are so many options. My favorite partitioner is Disks that comes with GTK and MATE.

Thanks I got that taken care of. I need help with one other thing. It says:

"SWAP RAM+2GB Minimum recommended RAM size is 4GB"

I have 16GB of RAM. So what should I put as my swap??? This is RHEL6.3 server

How much traffic will this thing be handling?

I think it all depends on that, and how much harddrive space you have. (and how much you expect to use. Estimate high. )
