One can open ports through iptables even if they have no idea about the commands, chains, etc.
First, take a look at /etc/sysconfig/iptables file. You should see a line something like this:
If you have opened the file in an editor, copy the line and paste it just below the above line. Now, you have to edit certain things like the port number and whether you are opening TCP or UDP port. Once done, save the file and restart iptables service. That's all.

i want to kill a tcp connection by killing its pid
with netstat -an i got the tcp ip connection on port 5914
but when i type ps -a or ps-e there is not such process running on port 5914
is it possible that because i do not log on with proper user account i can not see that process running? (30 Replies)

Hi I am trying to use open ldap in centos.
I have installed all the packaged.
When I try to use slappasswd to encrypt the password, it does nothing.
I searched for the file and I found out that it is in /usr/sbin and that the file is link to slapd.
However slapd doesn't encrypt anything.
