Is it possible to boot an existing Solaris 10 update 1 from boot dvd that I run on p3(1 ghz -512 mb ram).
I have got a dual boot sys - the other os is win xp that I need to reinstall but that removes the mbr so, is there any way to recover mbr after the installation of xp?

When trying to install pam-1.1.1-10.el6.i686 package using yum, we are getting the following error message. We also noticed that there is an existing pam-1.1.1-10.el6.x86_64 is already installed (checked through "rpm -qa | grep pam-1.1.1-10.el6"). Is there a way to resolve/work around this issue. ... I am trying to install Solaris x86 using the Jumpstart server. I run the add_install_client command with appropriate options, and reboot my x86 Target box. The installation starts fine and unattended. After the installation completes and the target goes for a re-boot, it does not boot from the HDD... (9 Replies)

I am trying to boot from a Solaris 10 DVD which I burned from the ISO I d/l from Sun(Oracle). I checked the byte counts of the image on Sun's website and my system and they are the same.
I and using cdrecord from Schilly and burning the DVD like so:

i have solaris 10 x86 64bit installed on my pc (dell 3100). i then decided to move my hard drive to another pc (dell 4600). I noticed that each time i boot up, the OS show as 32 bit (instead of 64bit) and i can't even get past this stage to the login page.
