installing phyton in centos

I am trying to install phyton on my centos.
When I write:
yum install phyton
I get the message that it doesn't find the package.
How should I fix it?

Maybe because the package is called 'python'?

you are right.
But even now after I have fixed it, I still get the same message - no package, nothing to do.

Don't you mean "already installed, nothing to do"? Because AFAIK yum is written in Python. What happens if you enter the command python on the command line?
