That covers a very broad range of topics from packet sniffing to network management. You will get a better answer if you tell us what exactly you are trying to monitor on your network.

Thanks for the update,

We need some good monitoring tool for monitoring our local network which includes Linux and windows PC. We want to know which user is currently is using highest number of traffic, what site he is surfing at present etc.

I believe what they are looking for is a proxy. You should set one up and monitor identified sessions from there.
