unable to communicate with Linux machine

Hi all,

I installed red hat 2.6.9-5 and when I am trying to ping it.I am able to ping any other machine in the network but unable to do vice-versa(means unable to ping this machine from any other machine) and getting the message --

Quote:
[root@mglinux ~]# ping 10.xxx.xx.01
PING 10.xxx.xx.01 (10.xxx.xx.01) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 10.xxx.xx.21 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable
From 10.xxx.xx.21 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
From 10.xxx.xx.21 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable
please provide your valuable suggestions ...

Assuming network is configured correctly, most likely reason is firewall on server. try iptables -F to flush all firewall rule. Can you telnet/ssh to the server or ping to other machined from Linux ? if not, network/routing may be the issue

If this issue is not solved with the comments of dennysv, could you post "netstat -rn" from this box and other box recheable?

Other test you could try is make "arpping" to see if there is layer 2 conectivity

Also you could check the wire or even the port of the switch is in the same vlan.
