OK another question...

Ok i am looking to start coding for an online text game, The game is called Ansalon for those who are interested *The original, not to be confused with the newer Ansalon* And i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of where i can go to start looking at information for that. Would it be the same as normal coding? or is there some sort of a difference, or a specialty/specific type of coding? Any info would help thanks. Corrail

Your question seems to indicate that you don't know much about programming.
Also, it's a very vague question.

Are you wanting to create a trainer - a character editor - a lan server?
All of the require quite a bit of technical knowledge.

There are programs out there like SPAN that let you automate key responses for online games - you edit a script and then let it run and it becomes a bot on your local machine that keeps sending the same set of mouse moves/key strokes over and over.

I'm not a gamer so I can't give you much more than that.

Let me try to clarify the question

I play a text based game and the coders on there create mobs and items and different programs that execute when players do something for example give the NPC an item or if its an oprog maybe say a certain word or something like that. I want to learn how to do that so i can become a coder. Does that help any?

Okay.

As an example, to be a reasonable UNIX programmer you should

1. Be able to use an editor - vi, emcs, vim, whatever
2. Be able to use command line tools like grep, diff, join, tr, awk, etc.
And be able to use regular expressions at least a little bit.
3. Be able to write quick shell scripts to do things that take way too long
to type or edit. Shell= ksh or bash avoid csh
4. Be able to write small programs in Python, Ruby, or Perl.

After that, you can learn C or SQL or whatever else you want.
Shell scripting is programming, so is Perl, Python & Ruby.
Take the list and work down it, don't jump to #4 until you have
some ability at #3, for example. Somewhere along the line it helps to
learn things about Math, and how operating systems work, too.

Don't start in trying to write Ansalon bot code.
