Duplicate postings when following up on a thread

My post count is probably inflated by something like 20% over the last few days, because the site often posts my reply twice when the load is high. Is there something I can do to avoid this? Is there something I should be doing to notify site administrators about the duplicates? I could click on the "Report this posting" icon if you like, rather than go back and edit down the duplicate to a no-op.

Also, should there be terminology to distinguish these duplicates from those resulting from deliberate cross-posting (separately posting the same message to multiple threads)?

That leaves an unattractive "This message has been deleted by era" trail; is there any way to avoid that? (I went ahead and deleted the duplicates I could quickly find.)

Yes, but only mods have the ability to delete posts, it's terrible at the moment, I've deleted a lot of those unintentional double posts.

The best thing to do is to avoid logging in and posting from 8:00 am to 14:00 am Eastern Time in the US until we get the upgrade done.

Thank you for your patience!

Followup - is there any way to lessen the impact of spiders and search operations? Right now we 26 have active users and 1540 guests.

This might alleivate some issues until the upgrade happens.

More than 95 percent of the traffic is from Google search results, which is one of the primary purposes of the site, to be a knowledge base.

We did block many rogue, worthless spiders lately. There are very few spiders on the site.
