You should read the INSTALL and README files before you attempt to compile open source software. You are missing the dependency lib.ICE- configure: error: Can't find libICE because configure cannot find X11 installed on your system- checking for X... no. BTW, configure and make as yourself (no sudo) then make install as root (sudo).

Updating apps via the Terminal

What's up?
I'm trying to figure out how to update apps via the terminal. i know how to do a software Update via Terminal but i just need to know how to Update the apps. Why would I not update the apps via the app store? Because i want more Freedom than that. These apps that I'm trying to update i can not find on the app store.

You asked how to update an app. You were told how to update an app. But, of course each app may need to be handled completely differently. If you find an update for an app, read the directions for installing that update and follow those directions.

If the directions ask you to update some variable to indicate where the app should be added/updated, update that variable with the name of the directory where that app is installed on your system (i.e., where you installed that app in the 1st place).
