I use vi, I like that its a standard and a simple as it is I know what it is

emacs is the max
I use vi by habit, and because it is always there ... I slightly prefer it over Emacs because it loads faster ...

But Emacs is just the best editor I'v ever used, if the the terminal is correctly setup with the keyboard on some situations , I remember once I was on a programming project,
all I had open on my X11 session was emacs, it handled :
a shell, actually a few, makefile's output, gdb's input and output and the sources of course Smilie
All the screens beeing used in the same time Smilie by screen splits Smilie



I had no need to even open an xterm Smilie

Try "Notepad2 " its very light like notepad.exe and has host lot of features for programming. And Its FREE!! , I Like using this application .

Hello everybody, My question is: how to add /tmp/work at the end of line in vi editor. my file looks like: cp file1 cp file2 cp file3 **** I need to add " /tmp/work" at the end of each line. I tried this :%s/$/" /tmp/work" and this :%s/$/\ /tmp/work\/ but it does not work. (2 Replies)
