mesg(1) General Commands Manual mesg(1) Name mesg - allow or disallow messages Syntax mesg [n] [y] Description The command with argument n forbids messages via and by revoking non-user write permission on the user's terminal. The command with argu- ment y reinstates permission. All by itself, reports the current state without changing it. Diagnostics Exit status is 0 if messages are receivable, 1 if not, 2 on error.
