	   Pointer to area to write information

       start
	   Pointer to start pointer

       offset
	   Offset to start writing

       request
	   Amount of read data requested

       eof
	   Pointer to EOF integer

       data
	   Pointer

DESCRIPTION
       Returns number of characters written to process performing the read.
