The process is started by (NIS server) when invoked with the option. It requires the file to be set up for communication with a DNS nameserver. The utility can be used to verify communica- tion with a DNS nameserver. See resolv.conf(4) and nslookup(1). Although it is not recommended, can also be started independently with the following options. Options Uses the specified file descriptor for service Runs in foreground.
