ulpt -- USB printer support
SYNOPSIS
To compile this driver into the kernel, place the following line in your kernel configuration file:
device ulpt
Alternatively, to load the driver as a module at boot time, place the following line in loader.conf(5):
ulpt_load="YES"
DESCRIPTION
The ulpt driver provides support for USB printers that follow the printer bi- or uni-directional protocol. The bits in the minor number
select various features of the driver.
Minor Bit Function
64 Do not initialize (reset) the device on the port.
Some printers cannot handle the reset on open; in case of problems try the unlpt device.
HARDWARE
The ulpt driver provides support for USB printers and parallel printer conversion cables, including the following:
o ATen parallel printer adapter
o Belkin F5U002 parallel printer adapter
o Canon BJ F850, S600
o Canon LBP-1310, 350
o Entrega USB-to-parallel printer adapter
o Hewlett-Packard HP Deskjet 3420 (P/N: C8947A #ABJ)
o Oki Data MICROLINE ML660PS
o Seiko Epson PM-900C, 880C, 820C, 730C

I need help finding out where to get support on how to configure pins on an adapter for a network printer. Unix has it's jumper instructions and Okidata has another different set of instructions. they need to be integrated.

I would like to set up my printer for linux RedHat7.1
I've used printtool (or should I say printconf-gui) and selected the correct driver, but I have no responce from the printer, instead I see this error:

Yes, another one. I can't seem to configure my printer via the KDE or GNOME desktop driver
and printer configuration editor. I have the drivers, but i dunno what 'device' i should put my printer on.
(I'm a Linux nuB, the closest thing i can think of is lpt1 :D )

Hi, I just installed the Fedora Core 3, and now my printer cannot work because the Fedora Core 3 cannot find a suitable printer driver for it. My stupid D-Link DIR-320 router does not give the user the IP address of the printer attached to it's USB port. Just got an HP OfficeJet L7680 printer but there are no drivers for it in RHEL5. I just want to add the single driver without installing hplip 3.9.8. It's going to be connected with USB. Is this possible and if so how? (1 Reply)
I have installed the above mentioned printer and can successfully send print jobs to it, however after each job prints, a 2nd or sometimes 3rd page also prints with it. These pages appear to be a banner page sent from SCO because they contain the servername and filename of the print job sent.
