ypstart, ypstop - Start and stop NIS services
SYNOPSIS
/usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypstart
/usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypstop
DESCRIPTION
The ypstart command is used to start the Network Information Service (NIS). After the host has been configured using the ypinit(1M) com-
mand, ypstart automatically determines the NIS status of the machine and starts the appropriate daemons.
The ypstop command is used to stop the Network Information Service (NIS).

Hi,
I have a networked ultra 5 workstation(using NIS) that I would like to be able to :
1. Reconfigure to standalone workstation,
2. and be able to switch back to a network workstation when the needs required.

I want to know whether i can change the password of a user logged in thru NIS from a client machine after stopping the YP services in NIS server.
Note - The Slave server is up and running.
I tried doing this. But i got the reply "Permission Denied".

Hello,
I am new to AIX...
I am having this problem trying to re-install AIX 5L 5.2 on a blade (JS20)
Then update it to 5.3
This blade now has 5.3 and needs to be re-install
