Codesets The operating system supports the following coded character sets (codeset) for Catalan: ISO 8859-1 (ISO Latin-1) ISO8859-1 is the string that represents this codeset in the names of locales and other system files. See iso8859-1(5) for more information about the ISO Latin-1 codeset. ISO 8859-15 (ISO Latin-9) ISO8859-15 is the string that represents this codeset in the names of locales and other system files. See iso8859-15(5) for more information about the ISO Latin-9 codeset. UCS-2, UCS-4, and UTF-8 UCS-2, UCS-4, ucs4, and UTF-8 are the strings that represent these codesets in the names of system files. See Unicode(5) for more information about these encoding formats. PC code-page formats cp437, cp850, and cp1250 are the strings that represent these encoding formats in the names of system files. See code_page(5) for more information about these encoding formats. See i18n_intro(5) and l10n_intro(5) for introductory information on codesets and iconv_intro(5) for information on codeset conversion. Locales The operating system supports the following Catalan locales: ca_ES.ISO8859-1, ca_ES.ISO8859-15, and ca_ES.UTF-8, for Spain Of these locales, only ca_ES.ISO8859-15 and ca_ES.UTF-8 support the euro currency sign. You can use the locale command (see locale(1)) to find out which locales are installed on your system. See i18n_intro(5) for information on setting locale from the operating system command line. In the Common Desktop Environment (CDE), you need to set locale by setting the session language. To do this, use the Language menu that is accessed from the Options button of the Login window. Keyboards and Printers Keyboard and printer support for Catalan is the same as for Spanish.
