Unix script help
Hi,

I need a unix script to look at a "test1.txt" and the txt file will look like this...
Code:
 QUEUE(QM1.DEAD.LETTER.QUEUE)      TYPE(QLOCAL)
   CURDEPTH(0)
   QUEUE(TEST.REQ.Q)            TYPE(QLOCAL)
   CURDEPTH(0)
   QUEUE(PRFM.REQ.Q)         TYPE(QLOCAL)
   CURDEPTH(0)

If the value is greater than 10 instead of 0 in CURDEPTH field, then it would send an email...

Please help..

Hi Scrutinizer, Could you please expalin above. How two pipe works?
Looks like if previous commands exits with 1, then command given after two pipe executes.
But normally exist status ($?)1 means error, and 0 means success.

Hi Anurag, it means OR . The command on the right hand side only gets executed if the left hand side is false. So if the script has return code 0 then there is no mail, but if it returns 1 then a mail gets sent.

Thank you very much. I just need one more thing..If there is only one queue has more than 20 messages, how do I get notification with even queue name, for example..
Code:
"(TEST.REQ.Q) has about 20 messages waiting"...

Hi Scrutinizer,

I am afraid that your proposed code is not working...I have tried this...

awk -F'[()]' '/CURDEPTH/ && $2>200{exit 1}' test1.txt || mailx -s "There may be a problem with QM, Please check the queue depth" email address < test1.txt.

I don't see any value for 200 in the test1.txt associated with CURDEPTH, but it still is sending me an email...

Any suggestions?
