ifconfig

I am trying to change an IP address on a machine running HPUX10

After I change it I can ping it from the outside but it completely locks the console. After a reboot it returns back to its previous IP. Any ideas??

Thanks
Brian

edit the /etc/host file with the new IP address.

Then reboot!

Also you may need to change the /etc/hostname.xxx files. You shoudln't but might want to look.

On HP_UX you need to look at /etc/rc.config.d/netconf to make sure the changes are made properly. You can use set_parms ip_address command do change the IP address

Check the HP-UX section, Pederaboo just posted some information that might be more helpful to you than me, considering I have yet to implement the change. Might prove helpful to check it out.

Go to single user mode and check /etc/rc.config.d/netconf. Be sure that the hostname and ip addresses are correct. Check /etc/hosts to be sure that you have the right hostname and ip address there as well.
