geouplookup6 - look up country using IP Address or hostname
SYNOPSIS
geouplookup6 [-d directory] [-f filename] [-v] <ipaddress|hostname>
DESCRIPTION
geouplookup6 uses the GeoIP library and database to find the Country that an IP address or hostname originates from. You must install a
database suitable for geoiplookup6. IE: GeoIPv6.dat
For example:
geouplookup6 2001:4860:0:1001::68
geoiplookup6 ipv6.google.com
will find the Country that 2001:4860:0:1001::68 originates from, in the following format:
US, United States
OPTIONS -f Specify a custom path to a single GeoIP datafile.
-d Specify a custom directory containing GeoIP datafile(s). By default geouplookup6 looks in /usr/local/share/GeoIP
-v Lists the date and build number for the GeoIP datafile(s).

Is there a command to get the ipaddress only of my system. ie; like hostname where i get my hostname i need the output dispay only my ipaddress. I am using a linux server.

Hi Friends,
I am new to UNIX. I wonder how can I get the ipaddress of my machine? In windows, i can use ipconfig to get my ipaddress. I am aware of ifconfig but it does not give the ipaddress.:)

I have a parameter file.
Sample of it as below:
Name=unix
Country=United States
I want the output as follows
-param Name=unix -param Country='United States'
I am able to achieve appending the "-param" in front.
But unable to append single quotes (') before and after... (6 Replies)
I would like to install a binary from source on a custom path, say /usr/local/myapps. There is no --prefix option in ./configure How can I "make install" at custom path. I tried this.
No --prefix

I am back at it with Python and have run into a little stupid hurdle. My goal is to simply search for the GeoIP.dat database and add the path to a couple of variables. So for example:
geopath=os.system('find /usr/share -iname GeoIP.dat')
