XShrinkRegion() XShrinkRegion()
Name
XShrinkRegion - reduce or expand the size of a region.
Synopsis
XShrinkRegion(r, dx, dy)
Region r;
int dx, dy;
Arguments
r Specifies the region.
dx Specify the amounts by which you want to shrink or expand the specified region. Positive values shrink the region while negative
dy values expand the region.
Description
XShrinkRegion() changes the width and/or height of the specified region. Positive values shrink the region; negative values expand the
region. It is legal to expand the region in one dimension at the same time as shrinking it in the other dimension. The offset of the
region is changed to keep the center of the resized region near its original position.
The exact amount of shrinkage for a given value for dx or dy is not specified by Xlib.
Structures
Region is a pointer to an opaque structure type.

SYNTAX
int XIntersectRegion(Region sra, Region srb, Region dr_return);
int XUnionRegion(Region sra, Region srb, Region dr_return);
int XUnionRectWithRegion(XRectangle *rectangle, Region src_region, Region dest_region_return);
int XSubtractRegion(Region sra, Region srb, Region dr_return);
int XXorRegion(Region sra, Region srb, Region dr_return);
int XOffsetRegion(Region r, int dx, int dy);
int XShrinkRegion(Region r, int dx, int dy);
ARGUMENTS
dest_region_return
Returns the destination region.
dr_return Returns the result of the computation. ds Dy move or shrink
dx
dy Specify the x and y coordinates, which define the amount you want to the specified region.
r Specifies the region.
rectangle Specifies the rectangle.
sra
srb Specify the two regions with which you want to perform the computation.
src_region
Specifies the source region to be used.
DESCRIPTION
The XIntersectRegion function computes the intersection of two regions.
The XUnionRegion function computes the union of two regions.
The XUnionRectWithRegion function updates the destination region from a union of the specified rectangle and the specified source region.
The XSubtractRegion function subtracts srb from sra and stores the results in dr_return.
The XXorRegion function calculates the difference between the union and intersection of two regions.
The XOffsetRegion function moves the specified region by a specified amount.
The XShrinkRegion function reduces the specified region by a specified amount. Positive values shrink the size of the region, and negative
values expand the region.

I have seen some misinformation regarding Unix file permissions. I will try to set the record straight. Take a look at this example of some output from ls:

I used to use ls -l cut to detrmine file size, and google searches didn't come up with anything else but 'stat' which doesn't appear on HPUX.
I discovered the humble 'wc -c' which does this job very neatly, and thought I would share it. (7 Replies)

Hi,
I am very new to HP-UX, and we're going to be doing a SAN migration.
We're going to take down the machine, and zone it to the new SAN.

If the new disks come in with different device names, how would I... (3 Replies)

What is the point of this? Whenever I close my shell it appends to the history file without adding this. I have never seen it overwrite my history file.
