pthread_getcpuclockid -- access a thread CPU-time clock
LIBRARY
POSIX Threads Library (libpthread, -lpthread)
SYNOPSIS
#include <pthread.h>
#include <time.h>
int
pthread_getcpuclockid(pthread_t thread_id, clockid_t *clock_id);
DESCRIPTION
The pthread_getcpuclockid() returns the clock ID of the CPU-time clock of the thread specified by thread_id. If the thread described by
thread_id exists.
RETURN VALUES
Upon successful completion, pthread_getcpuclockid() returns zero; otherwise, an error number is returned to indicate the error.
ERRORS
The pthread_getcpuclockid() function will fail if:
[ESRCH] The value specified by thread_id does not refer to an existing thread.
SEE ALSO clock_gettime(2)STANDARDS
The pthread_getcpuclockid() function conforms to IEEE Std 1003.1-2004 (``POSIX.1'').

Originally, we only had one shell on unix. When ran a command, the shell would attempt to invoke one of the exec() system calls on it. It the command was an executable, the exec would succeed and the command would run. If the exec() failed, the shell would not give up, instead it... (3 Replies)

I have seen some misinformation regarding Unix file permissions. I will try to set the record straight. Take a look at this example of some output from ls:

Suppose I have a main() function with only one malloc statement allocating say some 1 gb memory. Also say my system has 1 gb of ram.
main()
{

The program above exits without freeing the memory.
In this case will the 1 gb of heap memory be returned... (9 Replies)

Does this mean that it will run on any shell ?
Is it a good practice to create scripts (even ad-hoc ones) without shebang ? (16 Replies)
