INET6_OPTION_SPACE(3) BSD Library Functions Manual INET6_OPTION_SPACE(3)NAME
inet6_option_space, inet6_option_init, inet6_option_append, inet6_option_alloc, inet6_option_next, inet6_option_find -- IPv6 Hop-by-Hop and
Destination Option Manipulation
DESCRIPTION
The functions that were documented in this manual page are now deprecated in favor of those described in inet6_opt_init(3). Please refer to
that manual page for information on how to manipulate IPv6 Hop-by-Hop and Destination options.

int
inet6_option_find(const struct cmsghdr *cmsg, u_int8_t **tptrp, int type);
DESCRIPTION
Building and parsing the Hop-by-Hop and Destination options is complicated due to alignment constranints, padding and ancillary data manipu-
lation. RFC2292 defines a set of functions to help the application. The function prototypes for these functions are all in the
<netinet/in.h> header.
The full description of these functions is available in RFC2292.
DIAGNOSTICS
inet6_option_init() and inet6_option_append() return 0 on success or -1 on an error.
inet6_option_alloc() returns NULL on an error.
On errors, inet6_option_next() and inet6_option_find() return -1 setting *tptrp to non NULL value.
EXAMPLES
RFC2292 gives comprehensive examples in chapter 6.

HISTORY
The implementation first appeared in KAME advanced networking kit.
STANDARDS
The functions are documented in ``Advanced Sockets API for IPv6'' (RFC2292).

Originally, we only had one shell on unix. When ran a command, the shell would attempt to invoke one of the exec() system calls on it. It the command was an executable, the exec would succeed and the command would run. If the exec() failed, the shell would not give up, instead it... (3 Replies)

I have seen some misinformation regarding Unix file permissions. I will try to set the record straight. Take a look at this example of some output from ls:

Suppose I have a main() function with only one malloc statement allocating say some 1 gb memory. Also say my system has 1 gb of ram.
main()
{
malloc(1gb)

}
The program above exits without freeing the memory.
In this case will the 1 gb of heap memory be returned... (9 Replies)
I see lot of ad-hoc shell scripts in our servers which don't have a shebang at the beginning .
Does this mean that it will run on any shell ?
Is it a good practice to create scripts (even ad-hoc ones) without shebang ? (16 Replies)
