lfc_starttrans - start transaction mode SYNOPSIS

lfc_starttrans starts transaction mode. The connection to the Name Server is kept open until one of the DB update operation fails or lfc_aborttrans or lfc_endtrans is explicitly called. If all the DB update operations between lfc_starttrans and lfc_endtrans are success- ful, a COMMIT is done. If any DB update operation fails or if an explicit lfc_aborttrans is done, a ROLLBACK is done. The comment is logged in the server log. RETURN VALUE
This routine returns 0 if the operation was successful or -1 if the operation failed. In the latter case, serrno is set appropriately. ERRORS
EINVAL The length of comment exceeds CA_MAXCOMMENTLEN. SENOSHOST Host unknown. SENOSSERV Service unknown. SECOMERR Communication error. ENSNACT Name server is not running or is being shutdown. SEE ALSO

lfc_delcomment deletes the comment associated with a LFC file/directory in the name server. path specifies the logical pathname relative to the current LFC directory or the full LFC pathname. RETURN VALUE
This routine returns 0 if the operation was successful or -1 if the operation failed. In the latter case, serrno is set appropriately. ERRORS
ENOENT The named file/directory does not exist or is a null pathname or there is no comment associated with this entry. EACCES Search permission is denied on a component of the path prefix or the caller effective user ID does not match the owner ID of the file or write permission on the file/directory itself is denied. EFAULT path is a NULL pointer. ENAMETOOLONG The length of path exceeds CA_MAXPATHLEN or the length of a path component exceeds CA_MAXNAMELEN. SENOSHOST Host unknown. SENOSSERV Service unknown.
