port on solaris 10

when i connecting an usb device to a ubuntu box. i know its on /dev/ttyUSB0 port from dmesg. and i can do simple command with minicom connect to the port.

however when i connecting the same usb device to solaris 10 platform and i do dmesg. i get
Code:
Oct 31 14:50:02 karma usba: [ID 912658 kern.info] USB 1.10 device (usb67b,2303) operating at full speed (USB 1.x) on USB 1.10 root hub: device@1, usbsprl1 at bus address 4
Oct 31 14:50:02 karma usba: [ID 349649 kern.info] Prolific Technology Inc. USB-Serial Controller
Oct 31 14:50:02 karma genunix: [ID 936769 kern.info] usbsprl1 is /pci@0,0/pci108e,5347@2/device@1
Oct 31 14:50:02 karma genunix: [ID 408114 kern.info] /pci@0,0/pci108e,5347@2/device@1 (usbsprl1) online

which port is usb device connecting to?

It seems to be connected to /pci@0,0/pci108e,5347@2/device@1
Are you able to trace it back through with /etc/path_to_inst ?
Why would you want to know the port its connecting to?Smilie

cause i connecting an usb modem to the solaris 10 box.
i wanna connect it through minicom to do some simple AT command.

back to ubuntu, the dmesg is direct. but in solaris 10, i kinda lost.
wat should i expected to find at /etc/path_to_inst??

I guess you should be able to grep the device path
# 5

# 6
Old 11-04-2008
can't you from the /etc/path_to_inst or prtdiag?
# 7
Old 11-04-2008
this is what i get when i do prtdiag
Code:
# prtdiag
prtdiag: failed to open SMBIOS: System does not export an SMBIOS table

this is what i get from /etc/path_to_inst
Code:
# cat /etc/path_to_inst
#
