How to change the MTU in Unix registry?

Does anyone know how to or know of a web page where I can find how to change the MTU speed in Unix registry? Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

There is no registry in UNIX platforms. You normally change MTU on UNIX platforms with the ifconfig command.

Hi, Curious problem with IPV6. Situation is wget request from squid proxy via intermediate router. With IPV4 (wget -4) speed is ~100MB/sec. With IPV6 (wget -6) it drops to 30KB/sec.
