Tools What's The Easiest Route To Creating A Unix Executable File for Terminal?

I've seen the executable open in the application OmniOutliner, can I create an executable with this app? I'd like to be able to create the unix executable and insert it into terminal, but I'm not sure if the Omni app will allow me to create it.

Any one have any ideas or possibly familiar with Omni?

I'm going to guess that the file name extension is just incorrectly mapped to OmniOutliner.

What is the file name extension? ".command" or ".sh"?

Oh! and the easiest route to creating a Unix executable is to write a small script and set the executable permission for the file.

Thanks for your response MA Flying Meat, sorry for the late reply. I'll have to check the extension on the file. I was in 10.4.11 when I saw this. I'll get back with you when I get to the machine.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot. In addition I had found that using Xcode under 10.5 might provide me with a few tools to create an executable with extended tool support.

You may want to look into the newest version of Textwrangler for OS X, I believe it has built in scripting features that allow you to write scripts and make them executable. If that is what you are looking to do.

Wow, thanks tlarkin. You know I've seen this app before, but I just hadn't taken time to download it and play with it. I appreciate the tip, and I'll give it a whirl.
