Joining two files based on columns/fields

I've got two files, File1 and File2
File 1 has got combination of col1, col2 and col3 which comes on file2 as well, file2 does not get
col4. Now based on col1, col2 and col3, I would like to get col4 from file1 and all the columns from file2 in a new file

Any ideas?

File1
------
Col1 col2 Col3 Col4 coL5
& * ( 9 0
! @ # 1 0
$ % ^ 1 0

File2
------
Col1 Col2 Col3
& * (
! @ #
$ % ^

RESULTS IN FILE 3
-----------------
Col1 Col2 Col3 Col4 Col5
& * ( 9 0
! @ # 1 0
$ % ^ 1 0

Use nawk or /usr/xpg4/bin/awk on Solaris:

Code:
awk>file3 'NR == FNR { _[$1,$2,$3] = $4; next }
($1,$2,$3) in _ && $3 = $3 FS _[$1,$2,$3]
' file1 file2

I am trying to match two files based on different columns
here are the details

file1
A B C 1 2
P Q R 2 2
X Y Z 3 3

file2
A B 9 0 C
X Y 8 1 Z
P Q 7 2 R

here the file1(col1,col2,col3) = file2(col1,col2,col5)

how do i still achieve the results

file3
A B 9 0 C 1 1
X Y 8 1 Z 2 2
P Q 7 2 R 3 3

(file2.col1, file2.col2, file2.col3, file2.col4, file2.col5, file1.col4, file1.col5)

Thanks

Code:
sort -n -k1,3 file1 > sorted_file1
sort -n -k1,1 -k2,2 -k5,5 file2 > sorted_file2
join -j 1 -o 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 2.5 1.4 1.5 sorted_file1 sorted_file2

Am I missing something or the output should be like this?

Code:
% awk 'NR == FNR { _[$1,$2,$3] = $4 FS $5; next }
($1,$2,$5) in _ && $NF = $NF FS _[$1,$2,$5]
' file1 file2
A B 9 0 C 1 2
X Y 8 1 Z 3 3
P Q 7 2 R 2 2

Code:
nawk '{
if(NR==FNR)
	arr[$1$2$3]=sprintf("%s %s",$4,$5)
else
	print $0" "arr[$1$2$5]
}' file1 file2
