Fedora 12 how to remove grub

Hi,

I have a dual partition set up with Windows 7 and Fedora 12 installed.

The default boot loader is grub which lets me choose the OS into which I want to boot into.

Is there a way to remove grub as the default bootloader and get the Windows7 bootloader back?

I tried to boot from the windows7 install disc, got into repair mode and typed in these commands at the cmd promptbootsect /nt60 C:
bootrec /fixmbr

But that's not working. It still boots into grub as the default bootloader.

ps: the reason I am trying to remove grub is because I need to remove Linux from that particular box.

Any help shall be appreciated!

Assuming you are not configured using UEFI/GPT/x86_64, the simpiest way is to use Microsoft's bootrec.exe with the /fixmbr or /fixboot option.

See How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment for more information.

Remove boot loader using Fedora CD

Hi,

I had faced the same issue once. For removing grub you can insert the Fedora installation disc and select "Rescue installed system" after that there is a option to remove the boot loader.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks,
