Data Maximum IP Address Configured on Intel Network Adapter

Hi All,

Sorry if this is not the correct forum to answer.
But hope somebody can help me...

For these two types of network adapter:
Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Server Adapter
Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Network Adapter

How many IP addresses can be configured on it at the same time?

System is Windows 2000 Server.

Thanks

It's not dependent on the NIC, but on how much the IP stack of the OS allows/can handle. One resource [ref] I found for that says
Quote:
Windows 2000, for example, can have at least hundreds of addresses assigned, but only 51 reliably work (51 total, spread out over all your nics, weather you have one or several). After the 52nd is added, Active Directory takes a dump and bad things happen.

Hi Plundi,

Thanks for your response.
Do you think Windows 2000 here is Windows 2000 Server?

So if I asked to add 4 more IP addresses on 1 single network adapter(Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Server Adapter), than it should be ok?[COLOR="#738fbf"]

Since both are based on the same kernel (as far as I know), it's safe to assume that both share the same IP stack and it's limitations.

And 5 different IP addresses shouldn't be a problem for any modern server OS.
