Hi Jahangir,

Quote:
deploy or implement
OR
Quote:
deploy and implement
?

Former means you wanna learn and the later means you already have a 2 node cluster in setup.

Anyways, let me tell you the things to see for both the cases...

Question: what is the service guard version you have? 11.17? OR planning to have?

Quote:
# swlist | grep -i service
- Would tell you this..

Question: Do you have LVM or VXVM in setup? Which are you going to use in service guard? If, VXVM, what is the version?

Question: Is your boot disk mirrored? (Its really good to do so)

Question: What the operating system release on both the servers? and their model?

Question: Do you have the below bundles installed on BOTH the nodes?
Code:
# swlist

MirrorDisk/UX
HP-UX 64-User License (if necessary)
HP OnLine JFS
Serviceguard version 11.17 (or what you prefer)

Important : Install the recommended MCSG patches per release notes.. See the MCSG Release Notes (Version you are using) for a list of required Serviceguard and HP-UX patches. (Again, BOTH the nodes)

I would then see if we have configured network requirements like dual and dedicated (recommended) "heartbeat", "lan", Verifying, if there are alternate paths for them to avoid single point of failure and loopholes.

Then is when we do the configuration or setup.. To be frank, commands are few and easy to create the setup.. But, we need to make sure that all other things including the patch level, servers connection are very more good.

Being 2 node cluster, you can very well use a lock disk instead of a qorum server. Eitherway, you have lvm or vxvm, you would use LVM for this.

Please confirm and let us know the answers for above requested Question's:, you'd have the procedures and could begin the setup..!

Cheers,

-DB

What does this mean friend? Everything has its own procedures. Actually, did you read my post earlier? Ummm.. No comments!

Answer for your question:

Please visit the hp's document site and search for MCSG (Service Guard). You'd find the administrators guide. You'd find the procedures on there.
