Well,

RX7640 is a cell based server. Be more cautious while playing with it and I believe the setup's gonna be high. I'm sure that you've got a support contract with HP. I also believe, configuring MCSG does not work that way with that. It's all like break fix. But, yes, you can do it with a Consulting. (I believe you can get what am trying to say)

So, Hmmm RX7640. Either its gonna be a couple of RX7640's or a one RX7640 with MCSG on different Npars or, on top of Vpars on same npar (Not recommended unless you use it a testing environment or for your lab activity) or different. There'd be slight modifications in the setup. However, everything looks and most work similar.

Go to the below link, get the document for your OS version and SG version. Read it and master it.

HP-UX 11i v2 Operating Environments

You'd have step by step procedure and explanations on docs. (Best way)

Hint: If you can, please do practice on a test environment before implementing it on your RX7640. Or, create a couple of vpars and try setting it up on it. Then, you can bring them down and start over with your original setup. If you can!

All the best!

Hi DB,

I configure the system with internal Raid (Mirror Disk UX) and customer is testing the machine for almost one month. They can give us the date to confgiure the MCSG. they have 2 node cluster thats why i need step by step procedure to deploy those steps. Hope you can understand.

Deploy as in you want to destroy the existing 2 node cluster setup and configure a new 2 node setup? Also, have you gone through the document?

Hey man so there's no setup and its gonna be a new one!

Come on bro. I think you are not understanding what am trying to say. You know what? It is not so easy to give you step by step procedure to deploy or create a MCSG setup. It's an optional paper in HP certification HP0-A03 you know? It's about a lot to study and understand. Please go through the document.

I am sorry, but, a forum is normally used for a break fix. Issues and stuff... People here can help you in giving documents to read and proceed with your requirement however, I don't believe that people here could give this kinda stuff.

One more thing, the question you ask is not simple. Its not like people in this forum don't know it. There are thousands of users in this forum who know answer for your question. But, you are not getting a reply means that its not so easy to give it in 10 steps. If your question was to rename a VG, or root user account locked, trusted system and un trusted system conversion or creating a LV and things, you can go ahead with 10 to 20 commands.

This is something you need to understand before doing. Not like going with commands. Moreover, your networking things are something you only know. Who knows about your IP, the interface you configure for lan , heartbeat, EVA you use and things? Your question is simply like, How to become a HP-UX / Service guard administrator.

Answer is simple : You need to learn it!

Am sorry bro. Its not like we don't want to give. Its like, its not easy and that going.. Hope you understand. Refer docs at HP, the best you can ever get!

After DustBunny's (valuable and how true...)comments, my 2 cents:

Having lived with different clusters on different platforms, I believe a good and well built and architectured box is less trouble than a cluster ( a box able to crash and reconfigure itself by removing faulty HW...) and almost as fast if not faster than an average cluster...
A well tuned and efficient cluster is different of course, but as DustBunny will confirm - It takes quite some time and skill, by highly qualified personnel...
You just cant follow a procedure to put up a cluster, theres rarely 2 same clusters doing the same thing...
What can you do?
Urgently follow the "Hand-on MSSG" course so you have a good idea what you are being asked!
By following the course, you will get material knowledge and worksheets for you to start to fill with all the prerequisites you will have for your cluster..
Then start to play with the software to see you understand how it works (what you need to get it running) like make yourself a little apache server with read/write webdav and a few WWW authenticated users, and TEST throughly before trying less obvious (oracle DB...) once you are confident with the commands and updates procedure of your simple cluster, go for the big challenge!
It takes, to understand a cluster, the same time to learn UNIX administration (not administering it just understand and not being lost when the gurus come along and modfiy things...) so what do you expect by asking for procedures?
Because of the price of a cluster, you just cant improvise and hope it will work, it is going to ask you quite some investment
The help that can be given to you here is our experience, we can help you putting up your cluster by discussing which architecture is most suitable or by giving you feed back on what we have been through with such configuration, most probably help you sort out with something you are unhappy about with your cluster...

Most valuable advise I can give you:
Remember what UNIX is all about!

So courage my friend and warn your family you will spend less time with them for a couple of weeks for you need to study...
