Lightbulb Finding the correct LUN

I am using hp ux 11.31

Our SAN storage is being presented from an IBM XIV.

We have 3 HP servers (rx4640's), and the XIV has them setup in a cluster, so that when a disk is presented all 3 servers can see the new LUN.

I'm setting up a new VM on one of the HP servers. I have allocated a 34Gb disk to one of those servers, so that I can use it as the root volume for the new VM.

The problem is I can't tell which is the new disk as there are so many.

I'm a new admin for this environment, so I'm not familiar with which disks are for what servers.

I've run ioscan -fnC disk before and after the disk was presented, but it's difficult to tell which one is new.

Is there a best practice for this? I have the LUN ID, but I didnt see a corresponding number associated with the disks.

Did you not redirect the output of the command to a file?
What is the LUN for? ( extension of a VG?...)

Difficult to say anything about best practice since you said it for a cluster
