Connection closed by foreign host

I am trying to connect to my HP server from remote machine.
It gets connected but once credential are provided the connection is closed.

Code:
adroit:/home/seo/hitendra 32 ] telnet myserv1
Trying...
Connected to myserv1.
Escape character is '^]'.
Local flow control on
Telnet TERMINAL-SPEED option ON
HP-UX myserv1 B.10.20 A 9000/715 (ttyp4)
login: hitendra
Password:
Connection closed by foreign host.
adroit:/home/seo/hitendra 33 ]

What is the root cause for such behavior ?

Is the server "myserv1" a HP-UX secure server? If so, your source computer may not listed in /etc/hosts.allow . There can be other reasons for "Connection closed by foreign host".

It is secure server and my computer is listed in /etc/hosts.allow.
I don't know why the connection is being closed.Smilie

Also check that the entry in hosts.allow works correctly with a reverse DNS lookup and matches the name of the server as recorded by "last" (when you logged in).
Code:
nslookup servername
nslookup xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Do you have the root passwd? If its a secured box, in 10.20 you may only be authorized to connect from console...
As root you can either using SAM or command line (less obvious but if you want to know just ask...) see the status of that account (sam -> Accounts for users and groups - choose the use then menubar choose Action - You may see Reactivate (on cliking on it - it may display the reason why the account was locked... not sure though I have no trusted box nearby at the moment...)
