I am planning on purchasing an OCZ SSD that runs on the PCI Express lane. Now, while the motherboard it is to be installed on is not listed in the compatibility table, this does not mean it will not work, because the table only lists the motherboards that have been tested.

Still, is there a way to find out whether there is compatibility between the motherboard (Asus P8H67-M) and the SSD (OCZ RevoDrive 3 PCI-Express SSD 120GB) without owning the latter?

Probably not, but, the P8P67 motherboard that is listed, is only 75 dollars more than the one that you have (or want to use). The cpu and memory required is the same for both.
Seems to me you are only risking the difference in the price of the motherboards, not the value of the OCZ card.
OCZ only supplies drivers for Windows 7.

There you go. Now all the Linux folks have to do is lobby for a driver to be written or write one ourselves.

That they don't list drivers or compatibility on their website doesn't mean it won't work. Indeed drivers that come with the Linux kernel, when available, are often far better than ones given by the manufacturer. You'd be shocked what you'd find in a manufacturer's source code...

More tellingly, OCZ has instructions on their blog for secure-erasing their SSD drives (PCIe card-drives included) from a Linux livecd.

That is useful information, for which thanks. Given the liberal RMA policies of the outlets we do business with it is in fact worth it finding out whether an SSD works on a given configuration.
