What the best HD format for Unix & Linus

Hello people,

Im just about to install linux and unix but would like to know what the best Partition type format is for both of them.

Can anyone tell me

What Unix are you installing?

As for Linux, the most common is probably ext2. There are other alternatives, such as ReiserFS, and ext3. The later two are "journaling", like the NTFS, or to some extent FAT / FAT32. I have never used either or them - I have always used ext2 just fine.

It really depends on what you are doing with your machine, but it has to be made on a case-by-case decision.
