Solaris 10 patching failed

I was installing Solaris-10 Recommended patch Cluster and it came out without installling all patches. I gave a rebooted and tried installing it again, but it seems some lock or something is prevenventing to install further patches. I am not able to figure out and I am struck in between

root@prod_teledb03 # ./installcluster --s10patchset

If somebody can quickly help me, I would appreciate.

What does your patch log file say happened? It should be located under /var/sadm/install_data.

It seems, it was expecting newer version of EMC powerpath
Code:
Approved patches will be installed in this order:
144500-19

Checking installed patches...
Executing prepatch script...
An incompatible version of EMC PowerPath is installed on this system,
application of the kernel patch aborting.
A fix from EMC will be required first, before this kernel patch can be
applied. For the latest information, please refer to ETA emc275344 on
  https://powerlink.emc.com
The prepatch script exited with return code 1.
Patchadd is terminating.
----
patchadd exit code : 15
application of 144500-19 skipped : prepatch returned non-zero exit code
finish time : 2013.08.24 23:45:23
FINISHED : application of 144500-19

However, when I ran it manually with patchadd command, it installed successfully and patching went fine.

Hi,
Current scenario says, before running install patchcluster you should upgrade the EMC version or you may exclude this particular patch from running. Not 100% sure but you may read the "readm" file and you will get some options not to check the compatibility before applying patch.

Thanks,
Debasish

Hi guys,

My two cents:

http://www.par.univie.ac.at/solaris/pca/

We've been using PCA for years now with over 200+ Solaris 8 (back in the days) 9 and 10 with great success. I would recommend it since we we're able to save ourselves from a lot of pains like the one you experienced.

Just sayin' Smilie
