Sandboxes for developers

hi guys,

I need to create a sandbox environment on my Debian based LAMP server for PHP/MySql development. Anyone who could point me in the right direction or share their insight?

I'm in a similar boat, but I'm actually hoping for a budget for this.

My goal is to use VMware, Hyperic for monitoring, and Spacewalk (redhat shop, no RHN satellite).
