Fight against Spam in vBulletin?

Hi,

I have a problem.
For a few months ago I set up a vBulletin Forum. After 2 Days there were 100 people online on the same time and tried to register. (Bots). Sometime one of the bots suceeded and then he spams all Forums with advertisment in different languages.

What can I do against Spam? Maybe there is a another "better" captcha plugin for vBulletin (everybody know?" or with firewall rules - iptables?

Have anyone experience with spam on vBulletin?
Im running vBulletin Version 4.2.0

We have a custom solution here with a bayesian database, and moderator approval for some suspicious posts. Even so, we still get spammers occasionally. We're just not drowning in them.

Ok thanks.
Its interesting to know how other fight against spam. And its relieved to hear that bigger forums also has problems with spammers.

I installed a addon : VSa - Advanced Registration (im not allowed to post urls yet for the one who search for that: you can find it on the official vbulletin-addon page)

This captcha addon shows different questions you can generate by yourself.
I think for the first step this is enough for a little forum like my one.

For the other way to handle it with different databases and so on. Thats very interesting for me. But for the first, i think, i dont need so complex thinks like that. Maybe a little bit later i will do somethink like that Smilie

Thanks for your anwser.
