If I ping the ip sometimes I got answer but sometimes donīt. I have intermittent. then the only way to log in to this server is by hmc.

If there some way to resolve this

Thanks for your tips.

Something is probably wrong with your network if this is the case. Have you tried replacing the network cables and ensuring the switch port is ok?

BTW, this server is set up to use multiple connections, with at least one as a backup. You can use
Code:
smitty etherchannel

to check which adapters are set as primary/secondary adapters.

Thanks for your reply padow

I change the switch port and the ethernet cable but still the same thing.

I forget to say this server has Hacmp. Right now I dont use hacmp and all the services and daemons are down right now. the other server I dont have problem with the net and the same all the services are down.

But I still have the problem with the ip intermittent.

Thanks

have you tried another nic on the server in the same switch/port/config? you could have a bad nic. also, have you checked w/ your network team on how the switch port is configured?

Also, the Ethernet failover is typically set up with an "address to ping" which lets the software know when to fail the connection over. If the address is not reachable or is slow, it may fail over. This can be the case if you are using the default gateway if the switch/router becomes heavily utilized since the gateway pings are given low priority.
