Question about restoring from mksysb backup

Hello,
Last night I applied a DB2 fix pack which is now causing problems with the application that uses db2. Prior to applying the fix pack I did a mksysb(rootvg) which includes the file system that has db2 installed on it. If I do a restore from this will it restore the db2 version back to the prior version and will it be reflected in smitty. Thank you.

An mksysb is basically a backup of the rootvg along with a boot image and some installation software to be able to boot from it and do an installation of the system backed up that way.

This means: if the db2 update changed the binaries of db2 and all these binaries were stored in filesystems located in the rootvg then, yes, restoring the mksysb will restore the old version along with the old version information - version information is also data stored in the rootvgs filesystems.

I hope this helps.
