Mix LDAP and LOCAL user on AIX

Can't change user's password
I've got another problem...
Here's whats happening when i try to change the user password as root:
Code:
vhqut11:root 
# passwd ldap_user
Changing password for "ldap_user"
ldap_user's Old password:
ldap_user's New password:
Re-enter ldap_user's new password:

It works but on my LDAP, the password encryption is : clear. (it was md5crypt before passwd)

Now when i change the passwd with the ldap_user, it doesn't even work :

Any tips?

We use LDAP in read only mode, so i can't give any more hints.
